Anyone can Comment

I made it easier to leave a post so give it a try, I would love to hear your thoughts and write about anything you are interested in.  Thanks.

Things I See

What a pretty day. I took a walk around the park to say good by to some friends, before they go home. Most of the snow birds are leaving between now and the end of the month.

I thought it would be interesting to show you a couple of the trees that are flowering here in the park.

These are really so soft looking and the groups of them together look like clumps of Cotten candy.
It's nice to walk around the corner and suddenly see such a pretty display of color.

What about these adorable flowers that remind me of red baby bottle brushes. Makes me think I could just break one off and go scrub a bottle. It would be a cheerful brush anyway.

Ok these aren't really flowers but close your eyes and imagine you are an ant, open your eyes and look up. What do you see? Yup, dandelion blooms gone past, all ready for someone to give a big strong blow on, to watch the fluffs fly. Ok, it's a bit of a stretch but, works for me.

No flowers here either, except for the hibiscus in the lower left by the lamppost. Just looking at this place makes me think of the jungle. It's a home just inside the park, but could easily have been relocated from Africa.

Well that's it for today, just a glimpse of my view here, hope you enjoyed it. See you later.

Mystery Solved

Here's a mystery-- I will show you a picture I took, you guess how the hole was formed.

The hole is in a rock, you find them all around Daytona and surrounding towns as a decorative lawn ornament. This one was at Flagler beach on the way to St. Augustine.

Do you like my shoes? I must have a 100 thousand miles on them, they are ready to retire. Yes, they are Crocks, my very fave pair of shoes. HA HA, I only have three pair of foot coverings, those crocks a black pair of flip flops and black sneakers. I'm doing the 333 project, you have to count your foot ware, so I stick to the basics.

If your curious about the 333 project you can google it, it's a challenge not a rule kind of thing. I do it because its way closer and cheaper than Mount Everest! I'm not into cold or hiking beyond a day trip or two, so the 333 project is perfect, seeing I love minimalism also.

Talk about fun I went to the thrift store today while Charlie was at a board meeting for the park. I found the nicest vintage Ball jar fitted with an old tin cap!
YAHOO!!  $2.00 , 50% off. One dollar!!

It is so cute, wonder what I will put in it ??

OK, behind this door, or should I say under this door is your answer to the hole in the rock mystery.

Coquina, it is a rock made millions of years ago, by the sedentary layering of coquina shells and the shells of mollusks, clams, lime stone, red sand all squished together. And how is the hole formed ?
I was so mystified by the holes when we moved here, most of the people in our park don't even know how they are formed. Mystery solved (I googled it).
Millions of years ago all those shells and sand washed around the Palm tree trunks on the coast, so when the palm died there was a perfectly round hole to mark where it had been. Some of the holes are large and some are smaller in diameter, they are truly fascinating to see.

WOW! Mother Nature "rocks".  Pun Pun ...

Now you can sleep easy. Bye.

Aqua Teal Love

What fun I had this weekend. Charlie took me to a VW car show, I was reluctant at first - I mean how many bugs can a women look at? Was I wrong!

I was smitten with the first thing I saw, a VW van with The cutest little camper hooked to the back of it. YES, it had Alice written all over it, the little camper that is.

But!!! The total melt my heart aspect was looking inside, seeing the mini kitchen and the very favorite retro AQUA teal color of the enamel finish.....I fell in love. Can you just picture me whipping up a sweet little brunch on a rainy day all cozy in there? I can.

I have shivers just looking at the picture. It's, ME, ME, ME!!!!

Well moving away from eye candy and moving on to sweet things of the taste department. Charlie treated me to my very FIRST visit to Sweet Frogs yogurt.

Can you believe I have never been to one. The feeling of being left out of something that all my friends and daughter have already made old hat was chafing at my soul- if your soul can chafe at such things, MINE CAN!

He is a darling man that knows his wife well, give her sweets and she's quiet. Ooh was I quiet, all the choices, it was the best ever!! Thank you Charlie.

Well, Once Upon A Time, is on I can't miss it!! Bye.

Finally!!!

Fantastic time with friends

Getting Excited

Well hello there! What happened to, "I'm going to blog every day", statement?

After we picked our friends up from the airport we went on a vacation with them. It was so much fun showing them around, we got to see places we enjoy and share them with friends.

They left Wednesday, takes a couple days to get back into the "life" grove. Today I finally hit the inspiration vein, it was at the sewing store. The ladies here have been telling me about it and I did go in once but, that was with Charlie. Today I decided instead of riding my bike to Walmart I would peddle to the Sewing Garrett and have a leisurely look see. Mistake! I wasn't going to buy anything, ha ha, you know how that goes...... $12.00 later, and trust me I was very conservative in my choices.

While there I was thinking about all kinds of things I could make but settled on using some fabric I had at home with some I bought to make a bag I have been wanting. I also bought a zipper and package of needles, good thing I did, I broke three working on it.

I have a friend who said one day, "It helps to have to have a project to work on, to get out of bed with a smile", that might not be an exact quote but you get the gist of it. After thinking about her saying that I totally agree. I would expand it to say you really do have to have things in your life that you look forward to and get you excited to make life interesting.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about what makes me excited. At first you think of all the traditional things that you are supposed to say, friends, family, the fact that you are alive. You get my point. It's not that simple - What really gets you excited? Those are the things you need to do and do more of. For me I love to make things, strange things, strange because most people think they are odd but, it gets me excited being different. Blah blah.... sermons over. Here is the bag I made.

It's a toiletry bag for when I travel, not perfect but different. I used to just use a gallon ziplock bag with a hole reinforced with grey duct tap on it. I'm moving up.

So I'm going to concentrate on what REALLY excites me, I hope you think about it to. Life is to long to live it board.

See ya.
